upgrade rant

Ridiculous! I would advise that anyone working on a project to finish it in whatever version you started. I tried upgrading a while back from 4.7 to the first 5.0 and everything broke but I decided to give it another shot now Unity is up to 5.6. Big mistake again. after seeing just a dozen or so errors on scripts I didn't even write, I go to fix them and up opens visual studio and a daisy chain of web pages to sign up here, login there, several redirects and must have logged in 5 times blah blah blah. finally , I get to fixing "errors" and the initial dozen or so just kept doubling. for stuff I didn't even write - like water hose particle effects. that's a standard asset isn't it? I just started to delete these scripts I know I am not using since I had no clue how to fix them with the NEW and "Improved" coding lingo and finally the game would start. but EVERYTHING was busted as hell!!! the enemies navmeshes just would not stay on and they would run in place , their guns didn't shoot, any text I had disabled came on and filled the screen, throwing a grenade just hovered in mid air. every explosion or effect that I got from the unity standard asset showed the sprites and ( no alpha) . So now I will spend the rest of the day uninstalling and reinstalling , again, version 4.7. the only reason I even considered it was because I wanted to create a Render Texture for a mini map
